FIRST SPANISH FEMINIST
MEDIA GROUP IN THE USA
Born from Revolution and Rebellion
Jevas Combativas was built from revolution and rebellion in 2019. The need for loud Latinx voices, diaspora communities, and Spanish-language media that share factual and culturally relevant news has only increased since its launch.
In 2020, we saw a rise in interest around racial justice, fighting misinformation, and public action following the #BlackLivesMatter movement, the fight for undocumented workers’ rights, the 2020 election, the movement for rights for those who are undocumented and DACAmented, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic—especially on our Latinx community. This trend of social activism and highly socially engaged individuals has continued, but we are still lacking relevant media, representation, and activism driven by Latinx feminists who proudly speak Spanish.
JC began as a radio show on I-Heart Radio and a podcast that quickly expanded into a powerful digital community connecting Latinx people from around the world. In 2021, Google News Initiative and Lion Publishers selected Jevas Combativas to be part of an exclusive cohort of entrepreneurs helping change the media landscape and how news is told in the U.S.
Thank you for being part of our combative community. Together, we continue to fight for a more just and equitable world.

Setting the record straight
WHY JEVAS COMBATIVAS?
Jevas Combativas is a nod to the resilience of Latinx, women, and femmes who combat machismo, patriarchy, and injustices in their daily lives. We intentionally use the term "combative" to honor the uprising from the working class, students, women, and other historically and systematically excluded communities.
Jevas Combativas translates to “Combative Girlfriends”.
